Building a simple skincare routine

A short, unhurried way to structure a routine, and why fewer steps is a perfectly good answer.

A routine is a habit before it is anything else. The version you keep doing is better than the version you admire and abandon, which is a good argument for starting with very few steps.

A structure, not a prescription

Most routines follow the same shape: cleanse, then any leave-on step you have chosen, then a moisturiser. In the morning, sunscreen is the step most guidance treats as non-negotiable, and it comes from a dedicated sunscreen product.

Ayugenics does not make a cleanser or a sunscreen, and none of our moisturisers contains SPF. Keep using the ones you already trust.

Adding one thing at a time

When you introduce something new, give it a run of its own before adding anything else. If your skin reacts, you will know what to withdraw.

Products with specific directions — retinol among them — are worth following exactly as their approved instructions state, which is why every Ayugenics product page reproduces its carton directions in full.

Fewer steps, done properly

Two steps you enjoy will outperform six you resent. Nothing in our range needs to be used with the rest of it, and no one needs all eight products.

If something on your skin concerns you, that is a conversation for a health professional, not a routine.
